We advise you to alwasy talk to a doctor about what is best for you. We also advise that you be open to every way of birth, due to the fact that situations may change while you are in labor.
The following are the very basic types of birth:
1.Vaginal Birth- This is the oldest form of birth, where the baby is born through the vagina. If there are no complications with this kind of birth you can breast feed easier and you most likely won't have to stay in the hospital for a long time.
2. Water Birth- This is the type of birth where you are set in a pool or tub of water that is about 90 to 100 degrees to give brith. It is more comfortable for the mother and it has also been proven to reduce anxiety as well.
3. Caesarean Section (also known as C-Section)- This kind of birth is usually necessary when the mother is having multiple births or complications with her pregnancy. To perform this proceedure, a doctor must make an incision in the abdomen and uterus to remove the child. This kind of birth also makes the mother have to stay in the hospital longer and have a longer recovery.
4.Hypno- Birth- This type of birthing method is rather new and could be seen as very strange. Hypnosis is used on the mother to help her deal with pain This method basically helps the mother control all of her thoughts and to help contractions.

Labor is considered one of the most painful experiences of motherhood. As technology advances, medical options become more accessible and more effectived. While many mothers choose against medical intervention, many times mothers change their minds when they are in labor. It is a good idea for mothers to educate themselves on the types of pain relievers that are acessible to them.
1. TENS- with this pain reliever, a doctor will attach pads to your lower back. Low voltage electric currents stimulates your body to produce its pain relieving substances.
2. GAS (ENTONOX)- This is a mixture of oxyen and nitrous oxide (this makes what is called "laughing gas").It works when you breathe it in, butthe effects of this gas wears off quickly and does not remove pain completely.
3 INJECTIONS- There are many types of injections that are used for women in labor. The medicine is injected into the thigh or buttocks and then delivered directly into the bloodstream. The kind of injections include:
1) Diamporphine- used in early labor, has a more lasting effect.
2) Pethidine- Can be used early and later in labor and has a shorter pain relief.
3) Meptazinol- This can be used at a later point in labor and has virtually no effect on the baby.
